Dr Uche Mbanaso

Mbanaso is the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer (MD/CEO) of the Institute of Emerging Technologies (IIET), a distinguished Cybersecurity subject matter expert (SME), and is renowned for his unique contributions to the field. He imparts his knowledge of Cybersecurity and Computing asa visiting academic at the LINK Centre, University of Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, South Africa, where he teaches Cybersecurity and Digital Governance and Transformation.

Dr Mbanaso's research and scholarly works have not just made a significant impact, but have been instrumental in shaping the field of cybersecurity. His contributions include national and internationally sponsored research projects on Cybersecurity, Artificial Intelligence, and Robotics. He has published over 30 research journal articles and 30 conference proceedings in cybersecurity. Notably, he is the lead author of Research Techniques for Computer Science, Information Systems, and Cybersecurity—the first African-authored book on research published by Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

He has received multiple national and international research grants, including a grant from the National Research Fund (NRF) by TETFUND to investigate Cybersecurity and Critical National Infrastructure (CNI). As the Principal Investigator (PI), a research study sponsored by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF) in partnership with the Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN) to develop a Digital System Solution for Scaling Quality Assurance and Quality Control (QA/QC) in Food Fortification in Nigeria.

He has conducted cybersecurity training for corporate organisations, ministries, departments, and agencies (MDAs) on cybersecurity, digital leadership, and governance. He actively mentors young students in tech skills programs for dynamic cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, embedded system development, and robotics.

Dr. Manaso has a wealth of experience at the intersection of industry and academia, with over twenty-five years of experience in the public sector. This extensive experience instills confidence in his abilities and expertise. He holds an undergraduate degree in Electronics and Communications Engineering from Nigeria, an MSc in Information Technology from the UK, and a PhD in Communications and Information Security from the UK. He frequently participates in cybersecurity and digital transformation discussions on national television and radio stations. In addition, his current research interest is in the area of the intersection of emerging technologies such as AI, Cybersecurity, the Internet of Everything, etc. He is a member of ISACA (USA), IEEE (USA), The Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), UK, Nigeria Computer Society (NCS), Institute of Innovation and Emerging Technologies (IIET), and EC-Council recognised.
